Sickle Cell Disease Program
About 150,000 babies are born with sickle cell disease (SCD) every year in Nigeria, and Nigeria has the highest global rate of Sickle Cell Disease. Most children born with SCD in Nigeria die before the age of 5 years due to poor health and social support programs. It is estimated that 50–80% of children born with SCD in Africa die before five years of age.
OCHF provides ongoing sickle cell disease management to sickle cell disease patients.
